HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Shakespeare + Staying “Under The Covers”

It was not the holiday we all expected, but I hope you all had a moment to rest and get ready for 2022.
I’m starting off the New Year with a new Sonnet and some old (song) friends.

SONNET 32 is up and one of my new favorites!

It took me a moment to find this one, but once I did, this sonnet about remembrance, being an artist, and love was exactly what I needed to end 2021. I hope you enjoy it! I’m looking forward to more Shakespeare in 2002.

Under The Covers | 11th St Bar | 1.11 8:30pm

For my first show of the year at 11th St Bar I’m heading “Under the Covers”: I’m excited to revisit some old, beloved songs to help reflect, reminisce, laugh, and definitely scream a bit at the last year. And, just this once, there are absolutely NO ORIGINALS ALLOWED. There will be a fun mix of pop, rock, and I’ll be returning to my original Sonheim roots. Crazy-talented James Rushin (from Freestyle Love Supreme) will join me as well as some special surprise guests!

Every 2nd Tuesday at 11th St Bar: 2022

I will be continuing my residency at 11th St Bar in 2022! After January’s show we’ll be back to original music, ramping up for more single releases, and eventually my big album release on Summer Solstice! We are going to be creating beautiful, funky, raw sounds this year and I hope you’ll come by and say hi!

Thanks so much for your interest in my music this past year. I hope there are many opportunities to connect in 2022! Wishing everyone a healthy and musical start to this new year.

NOVEMBER 16 | 8:30pm

Lily Desmond and Hallie Spoor join me for a special set we’re calling “Midnight Musings,” featuring songs we’ve written about dreams, time, stream of consciousness… it’s going to be a beautiful evening.

DECEMBER 14 | 8:30pm

Happy HolidaZe! It’s going to be a wild evening of awesome holiday songs, sing-a-longs, special guests, originals, and lots of holiday cheer!

Every 2nd Tuesday at 11th St Bar

I’m thrilled to announce my official residency at 11th St Bar. You can see me every second Tuesday of each month in 2022, so mark your calendars and get ready for lots of music!

Sonnet 29
Reflection, Love & Light for 2021

While it has been challenging and full of ups and downs, I have been incredibly lucky to remain healthy, comfortable, and creative in 2020. I know many others have not had the same experience, and am constantly grateful for all the things in my life that have made this year manageable. Most of all, for my incredible family, friends, and students.

I continue to write music to Shakespeare’s Sonnets - a constant source of comfort and creativity. You can find all of them here. Today I released my last sonnet of 2020, #29. It is a reflection on the year and thank you to my community, who sing together in a choir at the end.

I’ve had the privilege and honor to record for other projects during the pandemic. I highly recommend checking out the following albums, artists, and videos:

Coastal, a new album by Chaz Chambers
Beathe Easy, a powerful song/video by Chandra McClelland & May-Elise Martinsen
The Ones We Choose featuring The Phoenix Trans Chorus
Iron Teeth & In My Head by Noah Evan Wilson (and an album coming soon!)

I’m excited for more albums I worked on to be released in 2021, including an album by Laura Westman and another by Brianna Barnes. I even had the chance to record cello for the National Musical Theater Songwriting Challenge, sponsored by the American Theatre Wing and National Endowment for the Arts. What a year! I do not take the joy of these opportunities and experiences for granted.

In 2021 I look forward to releasing my first solo album, Summer & Smoke. I look forward to continuing to teach, create, and connect. I hope the world will start to heal and find itself stronger, wiser, and kinder from these trying times. I wish you love and light for 2021.

Post-Apocalyptic Vibes &
Shakespeare in the Time of Corona

I hope you’re all safe and doing as well as possible during this challenging time. This month has been filled with anxiety and grief, but also with moments of joy and love. It’s hard to put all these emotions into words just yet, so instead I’ve been writing music to Shakespeare’s Sonnets. It’s given me a lot of comfort, and perhaps it may offer comfort as well. So, in addition to posting the songs on social media, I’ve created a webpage where you can find them all HERE. I hope you enjoy them, and keep checking back for more.

I’ll be talking more about the Sonnets at my first quarantine “gig” TODAY (Monday) at 7pm. You need to RSVP (it’s free) to get your Zoom link HERE.

At the concert I’ll also be premiering my very first music video and Tiny Desk Competition submission, “Post-Apocalyptic Vibe”. If you can believe it, I wrote the song last August and decided to use it for the competition two months ago. My band filmed it exactly 3 weeks ago, with the feeling that we might not see each other again in person for a little while… It’s been a bittersweet process, but overall I’m excited to share it with you tomorrow. Tune in to be amongst the first to watch!

Be well. As always, I look forward to sharing more music and art with all of you soon.
